When brute force is not the way to go.
This cassette opener wu=orks well with most cassettes . Ihave also got the heavy duty type on a wooden block which would open any - possibly east european cassettes made of thicker metal so will see which works best.

Good but takes time.
Eventually it will pop off the film cassette end/lid but you need to rotate the can a few times and keep squeezing the device for about thirty seconds altogether. Safer than the 'can-opener' type of opener but not as quick and effective.
