Use a scrub brush to keep clean of debris
Can't beat these rust-resistant mesh style sink strainers for keeping the shower draining properly. Hard to find these locally, glad to have found the strainers here and glad I smartened up and bought two (one to use, one as a spare). Decent quality but stops everything from going down drain.
This is over effective at its job. The mesh holes are so small they stop everything going down the drain. I brought this for the kitchen sink and am forever unblocking it. Even tiny little bits block it. Every time I empty the washing up bowl the water will not go down till I pick tiny bits out and then it blocks nearly instantly. I then have to take it out to clean out all the little bits which have got stuck in the mesh. This is probably better in a sink where you need to collect big things like hair only. Otherwise you will be forever unblocking it. It is a shame as it is well made and very high quality for the price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Neat, good value, upgrade to corroded plugholes.
These are really great for smartening up a plughole without the expense of getting a plumber in. They also trap small particles and hair effectively. The downside is that they clog quickly with soap etc which can impede drainage. You really do need to lift out and clean them every time you bathe. A slightly wider mesh would improve the functioning. However, they certainly did a quick simple upgrade to appearance for a very reasonable price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Having had a blockage in the drain pipes, what this item collects shows how easy small items of food,fluff etc, can soon build up out of sight from the plug hole. Measure up before buying. Too big for UK standards.
Good quality but the mesh trap is too deep for the rim to rest flush with the base of the sink or tub, so make sure you measure depth of the strainer body in your bathroom/kitchen ware before ordering. Didn’t work in the tub or kitchen sink. I’ve no idea who this is manufactured for since I have a standard UK sink and tub. Item is too big for a bathroom sink as well. Would have been ideal if it fit properly but it doesn’t. It now lives under the kitchen sink. Cost won’t break the bank but most annoying.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Bought to use over the drain in a shower. Fits the apparture perfectly and looks good. One slight snag it restricts the water draining through it a little too much so water builds up in the shower tray.
