The C.EMX-1 has special electronics that converts AC current from an electrical outlet to DC current- the type required by the motor.

Another great Foredom accessory!
I bought this controller for my new Foredom TX motor to supplement the foot controller that came with the unit. I had done the same for my Foredom SR motor with excellent results. This new EMX-1 tabletop controller has proven the ideal way to control speed on the high torque TX in the many applications where I want to maintain a set speed during high detail handwork and grinding and stock carving. I can't walk and chew gum sometimes and this accessory lets me concentrate on what my hands are doing and not letting foot coordination get in the way. Actually, this controller seems more usefull on my higher torque TX applications, than its corresponding SR model does on lighter wetght or speedier SR projects. All things being said, this is a dandy addition to my TX family of accessories and it really extends the usefulness and range of use! FIVE STAR RATING!

Too soon to tell.
I don't know if it's good or not. I only have a choice of yes or no, and I have only had it for a couple of weeks. Reviews should be made after a couple of years, it might fall apart tomorrow, what the hell do I know?
