empresses are: the mother of the emperor , his wife , the first and second concubine and the empress yet to come
series is beautifull in costumes , hairstyles and typical behaviour in that time at the imperial court . It lacks real action and big scenes . So it is not spectacular in action scenes.. mostly it is behaviour in love, fear, anger , intellectual power scemes between people of the court . so in itself it is beautifull in scenery and you find sympathy even with those people who are the bad guys or mostly girls . Behaviour with reasons of power or sadness because of tradtional roles ; ,during the series you come to understand , that things not are as it seems and also the reason why
