Fiskars - the best of four tested.
2018 Jul 13: Initial review
This is the best of four weed pullers I've tested. It has a long foot pedal which helps drive four claws deep into the soil. The foot pedal also acts as a fulcrum to pull the weeds out of the soil - like a crowbar. The four claws are thick, long, strong and serrated, and will close on the weed with a very strong grip. The puller has a hand pushed slide which will eject the weed and re-open the claws for the next weed pull.
The best feature: the THICK, LONG, STRONG SERRATED claws. These claws are the longest and the strongest of any of the weed pullers I've tested or seen. Their length allows them to penetrate deep into the soil and grab more underground root than the other pullers. Their thickness makes them very durable, I doubt they will ever break. Their serrated edges grip the root without chopping or shredding it. Finally, the claws collapse on the center of the weed for maximum gripping contact.
I've tested this puller on successively larger weeds, pulling weeds with roots about 1/2" diameter. Finally, I pulled a weed so large, it perturbed the foot pedal somehow. Now, it takes twice the pry angle to uproot weeds (probably the fulcrum pin.) That's an incredibly strong grip.
Summation: This is an excellent weed puller, the best of any I've tested or seen. If you need to pull weeds larger than 1/2" diameter, I suggest using a hand tiller. I got that idea from a Walmart garden tech.
