No set up required. I have a Samsung TV and it just connected immediately thus saving the TV from becoming non usable (original remote died). So, happy with that. Only gripe is some TV functions vary SLIGHTLY eg: channel list scrolls in a more basic way and individual TV programmes are not listed in a "guide" format- I just get a list of channels. Just as good as the original remote
Our original remote control wasn't working properly, we couldn't update the tv with it, or change channels easily. This remote is virtually the same, the only difference is the EPG set up.
