Durable, compact, waterproof & instantly legible Hand Bearing Compass
Whether for marine or land usage, the accuracy of this lightweight hockey puck sized compass is significantly better than so many lighter weight pocket designs. And it's absolutely waterproof, no question. Saving weight but getting inaccurate readings is not useful, the Plastimo Iris 50 is an excellent tool, combining serious accuracy with manageable size Nothing's perfect though this is close! Disadvantages? Only one minor issue, it's photoluminescent meaning that you can shine a flashlight at it for a few seconds to awaken the luminosity. Then it's suddenly brilliant. I wish this employed the 25 year tritium tubes that my Luminox watch has, that would be the ultimate combination! But maybe that would double the price... This is my second Iris 50, I've used my first for some years to get highly accurate bearings to plot my position with extreme accuracy, always confirming the Marine GPS readout on my chart plotter. Entering rocky harbors focusses the mind on precision!! Bullet proof quality made acquiring the same again a no-brainer decision~ nothing else offers this quality and price performance.
