Got it working with parts from my faulty one
Already had one of these, which would not print anything on the paper, although the carriage was going through the motions. Replaced the print head, to no avail. Then it developed an error code 3806, on boot up, which suggested a faulty main board, low print head voltage, or faulty print carriage; the only way to check was by substitution of components, Kodak having withdrawn technical support, although print heads can still be purchased. The item was supplied with declared jammed print head and various broken plastic parts. The former was due to the cleaning station being gummed up with congealed black ink; fortunately this is water soluble, so a matter of putting it, and some of the absorption pads, under a running tap. This got the mechanism working and the boot up sequence back to normal. It was trying to print, but the ink cartridges were low/empty and the print head suspect; replacing the former and the print head, with the new one, from the faulty printer, got it working properly. Various damaged plastic parts were replaced with those from the faulty printer, so now have one working out of the two. The print voltage on the faulty one seems a little low, which explains why it would not print, with a new print head fitted; if the error can be sorted out, there may be some hope of getting it to work, in which case it would be worth getting another new print head. The control panel and scanner unit have both been checked on the working printer; both are operating correctly. Investigations to be continued.. A satisfactory outcome, as now have a working printer, and can use stocks of ink cartridges to hand. Has been well worth the time, effort and expense.
