New coil is fantastic
This coil was made in Argentina, and appears to be of the same or better quality than the B&S original. I was converting a B&S 5HP engine from points to this style. When it arrived, I bolted it on, set the gap to the flywheel, put the covers on and started the engine. It seems to put out better spark than the old system.. I am very pleased. Great part, didn't fit as promised
The vertical Briggs is running with the new ignition coil. It is nicely assembled with good attention to detail. Obviously only time will tell about the quality of the internal components. BUT the coil did not fit my application. I found that the mounting holes in the coil assembly were too far apart to match the mounting holes on the side of the engine. WHAT TO DO? I went ahead and reamed the holes in the coil assembly to match the holes in the engine. Reaming the holes in the laminated metal was challenging. (About a 4 mm discrepancy. In the end, I was successful. It produces a great spark. However I would not by this part again without knowing the exact dimensions.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good aftermarket coil
This coil fits the 5 hp Briggs and Stratton vertical engine. It installed easy, however it is missing the tab/ button that holds the cooling fin in position. The quick fix is to use a zip tie to stabilize the fin by wrapping the zip tie though the button hole and around the leg of the coil.
