    No Zerostat?

I previously owned a discwasher kit which which had the zerostat anti-static discharge gun included with the kit & a bottle of stylus cleaning fluid as well.. It would be nice to reintroduce that kit to the market at a great price. As far as this kit, I feel due to the resurgence of vinyl, it's priced a tad higher than it should be. Other than that, it's a great product but could be better once the gun & the stylus cleaner are included as well.

    rca vs original ddiscwasher

Not nearly the quality of the "vintage" units that you can buy on ebay, some in new condition. I ended up buying one of the vintage after buying the rca type and am now happy. I gave the rca discwasher away and my friend is happy with it. It's good but not great like the original for those of us that are into vinyl audio and wish to protect our investments as well as listen to clean, clear music.

  • Flashback to the 70s with one exception

I started collecting vinyl in the 60s, and used one of the original Discwashers for many years. I recently decided to re-enter the vinyl world with a new Music Hall turntable, but couldn't find my original Discwasher to help clean my 500-plus LP collection. It was nice to see the Discwasher name still around, although the new one doesn't have the hollow handle that was so handy for storing the fluid - guess whoever resurrected the RCA name cheaped out on the new model. The LP and record cleaning business is full of pseudo-science and snake oil, since you can spend thousands on automatic record cleaners, but this good old Discwasher does a fine job as far as I'm concerned. Just don't expect it to perform miracles on damaged or extremely dirty records. It just picks up the lint, folks.

  • Good, but...

The RCA Discwasher is a replay (pun intended) of the original Discwasher from the 1970's and while it is adequate, it's not quite as good as the original. The felt pad for one is not the same material as the 70's version, and I think the old one, (I still have mine), cleans a bit better. The other thing is that the hole in the handle for storing the D4 fluid bottle is gone. That's a little annoying but not a deal breaker. Over all, it's still a good product for pre-play cleaning and a good bargain for the money. I do recommend this product for casual cleaning but it's not a deep cleaning solution. Buy with confidence, it'll do the job.

  • A modern interpretation of a classic, and just as essential

Back in the '70s and '80s, if you took your vinyl seriously, you had a Discwasher system to care for your albums. Some things never change. Two seconds under the large brush before playing makes all the difference in sound and longevity. You could use it dry for a quick dusting or with a few drops of cleaning fluid for a deeper cleaning. The latter was always a necessity of you were taping the album. This modern interpretation of the classic D3 system is as essential today as its predecessor was back in the day. The included stylus brush is also a nice bonus to safely remove dusty buildup from the delicate needle jewel that makes all the musical magic happen. The only minor drawback to the Discwasher D4+ system compared to its predecessor, the D3 is the handle of the large brush lacks a hollowed out spot for the cleaning fluid bottle, which was a convenient feature of the D3. Instead, the D4+ includes a cloth bag to hold the pieces. That aside, the Discwasher D4+ is an excellent value. If you're still playing your classic vinyl, you can't afford to be without a Discwasher kit.

  • Does the job well

The discwasher does the job well at a price that is more than fair. I cleaned some old 78 rpm records with this unit and they sounded much better than I thought they would. I was surprised by the amount of filth that was actually on those records. I would recommend this Discwasher as a cheap and effective way to better sound from your albums.

  • Close

The original seemed a better quality for the brush. The storage cavity for the bottle has been eliminated. The container storage box of the original, although lame, served it's purpose well. The new design is a "Handy Storage Pouch". Not so handy. It does work well, just not as convenient as it could be.

  • Wipe your lint away!

These are the recognized brand of record cleaning system to use on a daily basis for each play. Kit comes with directions, bottle of cleaning fluid, lint brush to remove lint from the Discwasher brush after each record cleaning. If you keep your records clean and either wash them by hand or with a vinyl cleaning machine, then you really don't need to use the cleaning fluid every time. I use a dry brush most of the time. Really does a nice job for a minimum price. Anyone who plays vinyl needs one of these!

  • Excellent record cleaner, decent price.

Disck washer brand I had for around 40 years finnaly wore out. Bought RCA brand somewhat the same think it will be ok. Did come with a deep long scratch on the wood back side of the washing pad wont affect the use of the cleaner so I'm keeping it if I'd bought it from a store in Flagstaff which I go to once a month i would have traded it off, but I'm keeping it because i don't want to hassle with mailing it back.
