Got this product used. Works well so it's a bargain.
40 means more light gets in than through a 30mm out lens. Yet, it's a compromise over a 50 in the sense that it remains low profile enough to stay relatively low over the barrel so you don't have to use super high ring mounts. Then it's also lighter and makes for a fine bush rifle. Mine was bought used, a little banged and bashed but seems to hold well and it can be set from 3 to 9 focus setting for different target distance. This kind of riflescope is ideal for 200meters and less, and is perfect for 100-150m deer hunt, even perhaps longer shots for coyote hunts. I mounted mine on a 30-30 lever action rifle. The mounts I have do not allow to use both open iron sights and the scope, but than it remains lower and more compact.
