My waterproof jacket was much better after using this product, water droplets clearly 'beading' on the fabric. However with modern jackets and waterproofers I find you need to re-proof after every 30 wears or so. Even if you don't get the jacket wet in the rain just putting it on and off and its rubbing against backpacks etc tends to lead to the waterproofer being less effective especially at high usage points eg cuffs and zipper areas and the back of the neck where the jacket rubs on my backpack. It is an effort having to use a tumble dryer to activate this product, I have to 'borrow' a tumble dryer for the purpose as we don't own a dryer. Apparently you can use an iron on low temperature to heat activate the product but I was advised not to do this by the store that sold me the jacket on the basis that it risks damaging the elastic and zips within the jacket I have. In a washing machine, the fabric cleaning is good, but it also removes all pre-existing protection, the final waterproofing is non-existent and the fabric "wets" with every raindrop. 20 minutes tumble-drying heat does not "activate" any protection. In a hand wash bowl, then air dried, then 20 minutes tumble-drying heat again, slight signs of some waterproofing but majority of raindrops still wet the material. Don't waste your time or cash. Nikwax much much better.

Does exactly what it says, very well used goretex jacket really clean after use and absolutely no residual smell of product after drying. Product recommended by coat manufacturer too.

Does the job well on rain wear with synthetic filling. Just wash and air dry. Caution: if your jacket contains duck down you need a dryer to re-fluff the duck down after washing. Medium heat.

I tried this on my GorTex North Face coat and it didn't really seem to do anything, least of all make it waterproof :( It could be because the coat is quite old, but it has worked before with NikWax which I will be sticking with now.
