Smoother running
The wassel vape electronic ignition mk1 was out of the box and onto the 69 Starfire in a day. Quality of the product was streets ahead of the old Boyer unit I had on another bike. The base plate is solid metal and the trigger coils encapsulated to keep oil n grime out and the terminals protected. Wiring was simple and well explained, no ambiguity. In use, the 250single started ok as usual and ran smoother, especially at lower speeds when the spark timing was noticeably more regular. You can see the difference between points and electronic ignition if you use a strobe to set the timing, the spark is exactly at 34° not randomly between 30 and 40! And runs smoothly through the electronic auto advance.....however they do that! All in all, a fine product. Works well but doesn't fit Norton Commando without machining
This is the second Wassell ignition I have purchased, they are very good quality, well made and perform well with excellent starting, even with low battery voltage (unlike Boyer) the only issue is the ignition doesn't fit a Norton Commando without machining the timing cover (I have fitted it to 3 different timing covers all needed machining), as the prongs on the pickup plate are too wide. So if you don't have a Dremel or don't want to machine out the timing cover by a few mm, I would recommend you don't purchaseVerified purchase: YesCondition: New
