Works OK on a 642
It took me a while to figure out how to install these, the instructions aren't very good. You have to use the "Centennial" instructions for the S&W 642 Airweight. It's difficult to fit the bottom piece on also, study it carefully as it seems impossible until you figure it out, then all of a sudden they slip on.
To be honest, I don't notice all that much of a difference when shooting the 642. In fact, it was a while from when I installed the grips until I brought the 642 to the range and I had forgotten about them. I didn't notice any difference until I got home and realized the new grips had been installed and I thought "Hmmm...I didn't notice much."
But overall, they look good and I'm satisfied. The 642 kicks like a mule, there's no getting around it. I'm working up a low-recoil load using lead cast bullets, but that's another story...
