  • Death of Stalin

Utterly brilliant. In typical Innuci style this is an intelligent teeth grinding comedy. Top class actors deliver a stunning performance whilst portraying the reality of the times. Beautifully shot and edited. If you're a lover of cerebral, clever humour, this is a must!

  • excellent used DVD. Film of the highest quality

Very good quality used item, as new. The film itself is one of the best made in the past twenty years, beautifully staged, authentic, great well-known actors, sharp dialogue, comedy is absolutely hilarious and the pace never lets up for a minute.

  • Far better film than the reviews gave credit for.

Sharply observed if not entirely accurate history of the events that occured after the death of Joe Stalin. Originally spoilt for me by the words 'Michael Palin' which linked the film with a series of other unattractive images. Fortunately Mr Palin's exposure is fairly small and the other actors more than compensate for his presence. An interesting study of how power mysteriously transmits from person to person within an organisation at times of change.

  • Death of Satlin

While it takes some liberties with the time line it is still broadly spot on. The film is caustic, dark but deeply funny, you can tell everyone has a great time on this film, Jason Issack really looks like he enjoyed his roll.

  • Take it in and have a laugh

Anyone with a modicum of knowledge re the Soviets and a sense of humour will find this dvd rather funny _ I did but i lived through the Soviet times and was enthralled with the rendition of those times

  • Tragic yet funny

Armand Iannucci's take on the events surrounding the death of Stalin are tragic, yet funny at the same time. An early caption in the film describes the Russians as a people living in fear. As the party plan the future after the death of their leader, they show they are also in fear of each other. The film has a great cast, who enhance the comedy element by not faking Russian accents but using their own voices.

  • Is this the New Life of Brian

Fabulous film with the irony of the failed Communist system shown for what it was. The actors were terrific and this production has the ability to be a total classic .

  • Dark comedy at its best

Some might call it pastiche, others hit and miss, yet more might suggest the topic of Stalin's terror is not fit for humour. But I believe this is comedy at its very best - pointing out the ridiculous nature of that political system and the very inadequate characters which populated it. If you think you might be offended - then I almost guarantee you will be: so don't buy it! Otherwise, it's a must of you want to see how humour can be used to destroy the pretensions of even such a tyrant as Stalin. Brilliant!

  • Brilliant, just brilliant

Macabre and bloody and immensely funny. Quite brilliant ... I'd give it 6 stars at least

  • It was not far from the truath. Loved it.

Where it was staged it all looked very real. The cars buildings and the clods. Great
