Japans anime : once watched you can never go back to ordinary cartoons..
"One of the most beautiful that Studio Ghibli has produced and all thanks to the very talented Isao Takahata who died this year 2018. It took him seven years to complete. The story is based on one of Japans oldest most beloved folktales and is all hand drawn, very much reminding me of Antique Japanese watercolour paintings in its faded style. The Sakura ( Japanese Cherry Blossoms ) are to die for ! Also by this illustrator: Grave of the Fireflies which is simply amazing and (we think) autobiographical. Ponyo is enchanting and magical with the voice of the sea magician taken by our very own Liam Neeson. Isao's study of babies and toddlers is superb with great attention to detail and mannerisms. Japans anime movies are far superior to cartoons. You will need to have a box of tissues handy for both the above films.."
