    Stick with Pinnock

    I bought this set of the Brandenburgs after having read many excellent reviews. Having always been an admirer of the 1980's English Concert version and Pinnock, I thought that possibly it had at last been eclipsed. However, in a nutshell, I was disappointed. Numbers 1 and 4 are really good, especially the horns in Number 1. The rest seem rather underplayed and lack the 'zest' of the Pinnock versions. Number 2 seemed quite lacklustre and Number 5 suffers from some very poor intonation. Number 3 and 6 for strings definitely lacked the energy of the English Concert which remains my favourite.
