A Cool Piece
The engine [class 99 6001, K 35.10, narrow gauge] operates as expected. The sound is that incorporated in other products that I've come into contact with in the past: a train watch and clock representing a 116 year old 3-rail company.
Though it is plastic, the engine arrived in a box which was classified as "Damaged" by the P.O., and needed very little to put it in good order. All the rods move with their respected intricacies. Very nice!
Direction, speed, sound, & pause are activated from the remote. I'm using the engine to haul the 3-rail balloon-target car adapted for G-scale. The remote operation frees up track power to adjust balloon elevation.
Provision is made from housings formed in the plastic for the installation of electrical rail pick-up shoes. This makes track power an alternative for smoke, motor, whatever.
Being a model builder, I can't help but think that this would have been a real nice kit. It would have made it even more interesting, however, it would still be sitting unassembled in the box till....
