Additional InformationThe venerable songwriter sounds like a smart and rascally old man on this album, and it suits him perfectly.
Reviews"It has a certain plaintiveness befitting a late-period statement in a legendary artist’s career....The album’s slightly roughshod quality channels the creative process behind it.", 4 stars out of 5 -- "It's produced by Dave Cobb, and it's very good, frequently brilliant, with all the qualities that define Prine's music.", "The songwriter’s first album of new music in 13 years is wise and economical. At 71, John Prine is a virtuoso at understatement, finding the joy in the mundane, and writing about what it means to be alive.", "Prine’S Lyrics, Delivered in a Moving, Desolate Croak, Are the Treat Here...", "He doesn’t miss a beat, doling out material that highlight every facet of his still-underrated talent."
Great lyrics, music and voice. Vinyl is a very good pressing.
His last album, which is heart felt and uplifting in equal numbers.
John Prine was a master at song writing and can be placed up there with the likes of Bob Dylan in my eyes. His voice is slightly different on this album, as he got older it got deeper and croakier which I believe adds even more to his words. This is a must for any John Prine fan. The vinyl is very well pressed with minimal noise and no pops.
We miss you John.
