The WDR Big Band Cologne publishes 3 LPs on The World of Duke Ellington. The compositions come from the famous pianist, band leader, arranger and composer Duke Ellington, who had created a variety of jazz standards together with Billy Strayhorn. In order to present the extensive program reasonably representative, one agreed to publish three extensive LP's on the BHM label. The WDR Big Band (which was even awarded the Grammy in early 2007) can be heard here with different top -class guests. The beginning of Triology - Part 1 - make classics, including Take the A -Train, it Don't Mean a Thing, don't get around much Anymore, which were recorded with features like Freda Payne, JIMMY Woode, Grady Tate, etc. Long live the duke!
