What a great upcycle - They will see me out. Thrilled

What a great product. To give an idea I used 2 x 250 size Krust and it did one large table 5 x chairs and 2 x ornamental plant things fairly large. It is thin when applied but don't worry about that just keep going everything turns black then paint over it. I started using Hameroite spray but it was wasteful and so I purchased a tin of Haemodrite paint to paint over it, which is quite thick but the result speaks for itself and these items were totally hanging. Such a good thing to do and stops waste - I am thrilled. bingo

  • Most critical review

    More preparation required than suggested.

Using this on thin metal it works ok. But on thicker plate it appears more preparation is required. After wire wheeling the loose rust off and applying it the next day rusty water was coming through. After speaking to my neighbour he said to heat up the metal before applying to remove any trapped moisture. This appears to have worked but only time will tell.

  • Excellent rust converter with tough finish once cured

I've used this product quite a lot now and I'm always impressed with it. It's essential to remove as much loose rust as possible before applying it. Rotary wire brush is best and in severe cases I use a chisel first. I scrub it in with a toothbrush (even large areas!) to get the best penetration. On tools etc the dark finish can look vintage without applying paint. For harsh environments (e.g. under car body) I'd recommend using 2 coats then primering, painting and then "stonechipping". This is my go-to product for rusty metal!

  • Rust turns black and is sealed

Great stuff if you don’t want to let your steel rot to rust. This stuff really works well. Wire brush lose rust n paint off then apply! It’s watery and runs everywhere so take care how you apply it! Leave it and it turns blue black after a while. Don’t use if it’s raining only apply to dry areas of rust and wash your brush as it will set solid!

  • Excellent product

I use Kurust extensively in the restoration of vintage cars and motorcycles. It provides reliable and easily applied rust proofing under painted surfaces

  • Good product

Kurust is a good product for stabilizing rust in those areas difficult to clean up with a wire brush or abrasive paper. It's water like consistency means it runs into cracks easily and is readily absorbed by remaining rust so penetration is excellent. Like most Hammerite products its not cheap in fact based on volume I think its one of their most expensive products however coverage is good and as the saying goes "You get what you pay for"

  • Good product, but 250 ml too small for restorers !

It's an effective rust treatment prior to priming after surface scale has been removed ideally with a flap disc or sander. It turns the metal black, which helps to see any missed areas and can be primed in a couple of hours. For vehicle restoration, its an affordable first stage, particularly for bodywork and sheet metal panels, where its not perhaps affordable or practical to have them bead blasted. My only gripe is that it needs to be available in larger containers for those who are involved in vehicle restoration as a business or hobby.

  • Rust killer

This product is a must if you want to deal with rust once and for all. Easy to apply, let it dry and your ready to paint or leave this as the finished surface. Kills rust dead and is the best cure for any rusty areas. I have used it on my car battery tray, wheelbarrow, boiler lower internal case and everything is sound now.....its a must to have in the shed.

  • Hammertoe cure rust

I use this quite often, and I think it’s great, good value to. The bigger the bottle the cheaper it gets, but it does go a long long way.it goes on really easy.

  • Well.... it works !

I have been a fan of Hammerite products, and Kurust is no exception. I was expecting the contents be like a gel, its more like watered down milk. Paint it on, work it in to the rusty areas, and watch it go to work, it turns blue/black. Value for money ?? I would say YES ! I am doing the underneath of a Ford Transit, only done the back end at the moment, but 250ml will do the whole of the underneath with some left over. Does it really work ? Well time will tell, I will let you know in 6 to 8 months time.
