Perfect antenna
I had Cliff set my J Pole to the center of the old Commercial band for me and figured it would have just a little bit higher SWR on Ham 2 Meter and 70 cm than it would normally be. Was I surprised! This antenna never got above 1.2:1 on either end of the Ham bands and the Swr meter NEVER MOVED in the Commercial band. (I did use a choke but doubt one is needed) There is another competitor selling for about $5 more + shipping that I bought a bit over a year ago that works just fine but it was bent pretty bad when I received it and had to spend a bit of time straightening it out. I bought this one to be able to take Camping in the mountains of Idaho, shipping box was tore up but the antenna was in perfect shape due to the way it was packed. I couldn't buy the materials, spend the time figuring the lengths, cutting, soldering and testing to come up with this antenna for the price Clif does it. Inexpensive and Easy to Setup and Take Down
I'm the Area Emergency Communications Coordinator in my neighborhood. I bought this antenna to go with my emergency communications gear. I like this antenna a lot. It disassembles down to less than 36" long and will fit inside a 5" tube for storage and protection. A couple suggestions--if possible, locate the SO 239 connector 90 degrees from it's current location. This will allow you to store this in a 4" diameter tube. Also, a brief instruction sheet stating how far above ground to place it to gain pest propagation would be helpful. Amazing performance for the price.
I live in a valley of the Ouachita Mtns. I went from a 1/2 wave ground plane vertical to this jpole out of curiosity. Repeaters I could barely hit with 40 watts I now hit with 25 and my return signals went from s4 to 7's and above at identical height without aggravation of ground plane radials. Swr good across the board, even on gmrs bands!! Great buy.

I bought the antenna because it was a solid, inexpensive antenna with a proven design that I could make part of my emergency communications package. It is well built and collapsible, making it easy to transport without worrying that it will get ruined if something falls on it. Love it!!
The antenna arrived quickly and was packaged better than most antennas I've gotten before. Very easy to install and it greatly increased my HT range. Plan to use as 2m base for my ft2500m. Excellent Antenna!!!!
This antenna is above and beyond excellent. I am located in Pinellas Park,FL and I was having real problems hitting even local repeaters. Now, after erecting this awesome J-Pole, I hit repeaters all the way in Tampa...20 miles away, with my radio on low power...three watts!! Everything's Tight
Cliff really paid attention to the solder flow. Even end-capped the tops. Would like to have had more liquid rubber on the SO connect though but hey, gotta wrap it anyways huh. Will darken with gun blue, stick it on the chimney and nobody will even know it's there. If he really tuned it to low SWR, and I know he did, than I'll never need anything else - except maybe a 50W amp to dual-purpose base/mobile. The coax and the connectors are the real strength of the system. Don't be fooled and buy the best. Then comes the antenna. Get one from someone like Cliff that's made a million of em and knows how to use a meter. Then comes location, put it above most everything else close short of a freakin tower. ha THEN comes the active transceiver circuitry, and a $20 HT will do as the weak link in the chain!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
