BUY THESE AND FORGET THE REST!
I don't often write reviews but I had to with these. Before purchasing I looked at the very many others offered on Amazon and e-bay as there was a lot of choice with the foot straps. I went for these as they were recommended by 'Garden News' who won't recommend rubbish and also I liked the look of the fixed lock in strap. So with trepidation I put on my hiking boots and strapped myself in firm. They were excellent, got the right 'hole' first time off and away I went. Aerated the whole lawn without them coming off once! They seemed massive out to the box but once on with the correct footwear, either wellies or walking boots the size doesn't matter. Because they stuck so well into the lawn I found it much easier to walk with my lawn edger or a walking stick just to have something to hold onto when i lifted my foot up. Easy to fit and use, but you’ll feel funny using them!
As it is autumn, I used these spike shoes as soon as I got them. Straightforward to get on and for me the straps worked perfectly - I had read some negative reviews on straps for these type of products, but for me it wasn’t a problem. I used a heavy pair of walking shoes. It was a little unusual walking in these and I felt like an idiot going over my lawns taking tiny steps. But they worked fine. If the lawn is a little bare then I sometimes had soil removed by the spikes - my lawn and soil were damp (no surprise there for the UK). So I had to remove soil from the spikes a few times and repair the damage to the lawn, but not too bad. Now the spikes are in the shed for the next time I do it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
