Recover The Lenovo T450 back to Factory
My Lenovo T450 didn't have an option to Factory Restore (now using a Windows Reset) as associated partitions had been erased. This set of 4 discs (looks like 1 and 2 twice!) will bring the T450 hard drive back to factory, complete with recovery/Reset partition. After using these discs the Windows 8.1 OS is ready to use. I can also factory restore (now Windows based Reset) again in the future from boot up or desktop. No need to use these discs again. You'll need a DVD Drive, I used an external USB DVD as my T450 has no optical drive. There are 4 discs labled 1 (disc 1 of 2 - Bootable), 1 (disc 2 of 2) and 2 (disc 1 of 2) and finally, 2 (disc 2 of 2). Process is slow needing 2 hours or more but only needs to be done once. It can be left after each disc change to do it's thing. All discs will be swaped within an hour. The longest part is after the last disc but it's automatic until the Lenovo/Windows setup stage. Do you need these discs? Will I lose all my data on my hard drive? You don't need these discs to get an OS on your T450. Lenovo have good driver support for Windows 7 through to 10. You can download an ISO from Microsoft for 8.1 and 10 using Media Creation Tool (possibly 7 too). The T450 BIOS have a valid Windows key pre installed, you should check. So a clean install is possible. I got this set out of interrest and happy with the result. They are easy to use. Just follow the instructions from booting disc 1 (1 of 2). Finally, yes, all data will be erased and new partitions will be created (GPT). The result is a factory restored T450 (T450, T450s, Type 20BU, 20BV, 20BW, 20BX, 20DJ). Just complete initial setup of Lenovo ID (option) and Windows. Then you'll be running Windows 8.1 (in my case Pro), complete with drivers pre-installed.
