Patio Wars: Water Sabre
Pretty Powerful Jet using Turbo Lance Head, which is effective for cleaning up Patio slabs and clearing-out weeds from between slabs. (I choose to use the turbo head for this, rather than the 'clever-looking' spinney patio head ...) Has a super long hose. Long hose makes use much easier and more efficient, (but be careful not to kink it !) Construction quality is adequate, but not excellent. There are some very poorly thought out design aspects on both this and the reeled version (that I had before). The criticisms don't however affect the functional performance level of the jet itself, which is pretty good. I bought an exact same replacement after my previous one developed a fault after about 3 years medium to light usage. (It was mostly kept in dry storage). However, I knew this power washer 'did the job' and was powerful, so decided to replace it. I wasn't happy that the 'deceased' unit failed after such very non-commercial use levels. I was even more concerned when VAX Engineers insisted I buy a replacement trigger unit for the old unit at £40 to repair it, which I tested out from this new unit and found to be incorrect advice ! Worse was that I had pointed out that there advice didn't seem to be logical ... but they insisted they knew ! Outcome is that I am pleased to have a working power washer of this standard again, despite the premature failure of the previous one. I will probably swap the Reel Unit back from the previous one, as it is useful to store the hose properly (avoiding damage)and makes the handle a sensible height to wheel. (I note that the handle attachments detach by themselves, so I will probably find a mechanical way to properly join them together (poor design). It would also seem to be sensible for VAX to have included some storage for loose parts, but this seems part of the 'not properly thought through' aspect of this washer. Would I recommend the product. Well, for the price I paid, Yes. For full retail price, I am much less certain ... 'probably' is the best answer I can give, but only because the jet spray IS powerful. Perfect for paving, driveways and bricks
