Cheaper and a lot easier that having to replace an obsolete bottom entry ball valve system.
Although, as a Grumpy old man, I baulked slightly at the cost of the kit. (I am an ex plumber who lives in yesterday's price world) and as a disabled pensioner who has the knowledge but no longer much physical ability, I did not relish the thought of replacing my obsolete bottom entry ball valve unit so this kit gave me an otherwise unavailable option as in my case it was the Nylon/plastic cone and new washer that was needed. The existing cone had become brittle and chipped so no amount of new washers could solve my problem. Although the replacement plastic cone was a smidgen smaller diameter, I was able to refurbish my ball valve without problem. TIP: when fitting a new washer to your toilet flush, set the initial level a little lower than normal as over the following weeks the washer will bed in and the level will subsequently rise of its own accord over time.

cheap and effective
Used this kit to repair my hot water tank ballvalve that had started to drip and reach the overflow. Its daft to replace the entire ballvalve when its normally just the small rubber seal that's defective. A simple task for a competent diy'er.
