Close but no cigar..
Seems better than a scart if your reason for purchase is to play your PS2 in better quality on a HDTV, not infinitely better though. And you will have to tweak some things depending on the game, where it be screen size, brightness, sharpness, colour variants etc, which is the same for scart and can get annoying when you can't seem to tweak it to perfection. The old fat CRT TV's still look better with PS2, as PS2 was built specificly for that technology, that's a whole different conversation though about interlaced and progressive, 240i all that crap, I'll just say this, for the price, this is good, it's about 50 percent better than a scart lead, give or take, depending on your settings, although for the time being I can't see any better option for playing PS2 games, than you'll get with one of the old fat back CRT TVs, everything looks sharper, pixels don't bleed, pixels don't become to sharp and blur in motion, HDTVs are pretty useless when it comes to 20 year old technology...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Ok, but...
Connection to PS is quite tight. Be careful, don't break your PS connector, when plugging the cable. On the other hand it stays well plugged. Picture is a little bit fidgeting, but maybe it comes from PS itself.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This is the best native picture you can get.
I'll start with the technical stuff about the PS2. Out of all the options available to connect the system to a TV this is the best. No question. If you intend to connect to an upscale system then you still want this. The picture is far superior to scart in every way which isn't surprising since it's a standard capable of the HD era. It doesn't look as pretty as the old official sony one but the quality is the same. Very impressed and I've had pints of beer that cost more.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

My HDTV only has one HDMI input which is taken by the Chromecast, so I've been using this cable to play my PS3 in HD through the component input instead. Excellent quality when using PS2 with HDTV considering how old the PS2s are. Beats the composite cables by far. I don't need to convert through from rca to scart & upscale to hdmi anymore! This quality definitely beats that as in theory it can output 1080p (not that you get that from ps2, but anyway). PS2 on Flatscreen
I bought these cables after online reviews suggested component outputs would make a difference when connecting a PS2 to a modern LCD TV. They do! Not quite so obvious on the old 32" in the kids' room, but great on the 40" Sony in the living room. Text in particular is razor sharp now and generally things are much clearer. Won't give your PS2 PS4 quality graphics, but will significantly improve what you have. Just need to remember to change the settings on your PS2 to component - can be done whilst still connected via the yellow video cable. Must buy for PS2 on HD TV
The difference in quality between using this and the official rgb is world's apart on an HD television. With the RGB cable, the colours are faded, the text is blurry and it ruins all sense of nostalgia. Apart from going back to a CRT, this is the best option if you have an HDTV: picture is now sharp and the colours are vivid. Nostalgia on the PS2 now in full flow! Works well once set up.
