Before using each of these awesome spatula!
Just a helping tip to have a smoother surface & to avoid tiger marks on the surfaces you are skimming/filling. Using 220 grit wet or dry sanding sheets or even a electric sander round off the edges at approx 45 degrees angle. I used a fine permanent marker to mark the correct angles & a Mac Allister electric dry sander on the edges until I got a nice corner shape & then used a wet sanding black fine sponge of £land, & gave the whole edges a finishing leaving the stainless steel blade sharp but smooth finish. This process eliminated tiger/line marks when plastering/skimming & filling gaps using British Gypsum Thistle Bonding & Multifinish plasters & polyfiller & knauf fill & finish readymix jointing compound. BY THE WAY, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO WASTE TIME MIXING PLASTER FOR A QUICK THIN SKIM COATING ON WALLS/CEILINGS YOU CAN USE THIS KNAUF READYMIX JOINTING COMPOUND FILL & FINISH LIGHT (IT'S A BLUE TUBE 17LTRS) IT'S FANTASTIC FOR 2MM STRAIGHT FORWARDS USE, APPLY THE FIRST COAT 1MM, LET IT DRY OVER NIGHT (12HRS) THEN GIVE THAT SURFACE A LIGHT SAND & VACUUM IT, FINAL FINISH 1MM COAT THE SAME SURFACE AGAIN! JOB DONE FOR THE NOVICES! LOL, THIS IS THE DOWNFALL OF THING IF U WANT TO USE THE WHITE READYMIX STUFF THOUGH: IT'S TIME CONSUMING MORE THAN USING MULTIFINISH PLASTER! Always remember plaster is stronger & tough than this joint compound stuff, it's good to just make a nice neat thin finish coat to a ugly surface, before painting. Plaster skim is rock solid & leaves a hard tougher surface for many yrs!!!ALSO 1X 17LTRS READYMIX TUB IS £20 (opps, u can add 3ltrs of cold clean water to the bucket & mix with drill & whisk =20kg) APPROX OFF THE WEBSITE, WHEREBY THISTLE MULTI FINISH PLASTER IS £7 APPROX FOR A POWDER 25KG BAG! BUT U SAVE THE HASSLE OF MIXING & WATER WASTAGE & PLASTER WHEN U USE THE READYMADE STUFF. IT'S GOOD PRACTICE FOR STARTING TO PLASTER & U SAVE MONEY BY NOT HIRING A PLASTER! HOWEVER, WE CAN'T COMPARE OUR WORK TO THE HIRING PLASTERS THOU! HATS OFF & SALUTE TO THOSE PLASTERS OUT THERE. APPRECIATE UR VALUABLE TIME & EFFORTS OF ALL HARD WORK U GUYS DO! Regular updates via email and texts. Pls remember that jointing compound is known to shrink that's why I did 2x 1mm coatings leaving 15hrs inbetween the coats to dry & shrink out. Left a lovely smooth finish. I primer all surfaces with zinsser gardz clear & paint ceiling & walls with any brand emoltion paints. End results r good & lasted 5yrs still looking clean dent or Mark's or crack FREE! I KNOW THIS WAS A REVIEW FOR THE SPATULA'S BUT I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE A LITTLE BIT OF MY EXPERIENCES PRIOR AND USING THESE TOOLS WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS TOO.
