  • POORLY ENGINEERED JUNK - YOU REALLY DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

We bought this bed in September 2020. After very carefully putting it together and making sure the bolts were tightened correctly, it was slightly creaky from the very first night. We tolerated it for the first 6 weeks or so but it became louder and progressed to squeaks and rattles that echoed, ringing through the metal tubing with the slightest movement. An undisturbed night's sleep rapidly became a faded memory. It got to the point where we had to remove the mattress every weekend to put the bed on its side in order to retighten the bolts. This tiring and tedious practise reduced the noise for a couple of nights but without actually getting rid of it. It was ludicrous and became far too physically demanding as we are both in our seventies. We were told that all metal beds creak & squeak and advised to buy plumber's rubber washers but they had little effect. Our son, an engineer, visited us and examined the bed. He pointed out that the frame was not "square & true" and that the noise was caused by the bolts struggling to mate a flat surface (frame) with curved surfaces (round headposts), in effect, an engineering faux pas! We replaced it with a branded bed last month (bliss!) and is now repackaged in the garage. A salutary lesson - you do actually get what you pay for! Incidentally, a further warning - apparently, this bed has no warranty!
