Sensors are usually the faulty item. But think with this problem its better to change both filter and sensor together.
Message (water in fuel) so bought filter at great cost, easy to replace but still got intermittant message. Bought fuel sensor (which mechanics always say its usually the sensor at fault) (all sensors) Replaced it and low and behold message went. I think this item is pricey it was the best price i could get. But appears to be of very good quality.
