Works well with Shimano 105
Replacing original Shimano 105 chain that came on my BMC SLR02 after 1,700 miles - chain gauge said it had 15% useful life left . Noticed immediate positive difference in shifting ... which I would expect with factory oil on the chain and tight links. Not sure about description of it being "stretch proof" ... but I will be able to comment on that in 1,700 miles :) BTW ... I've put KMC chains on all all my bikes this year - 6 of them ... price is right and I like the pro-link connection ... I actually bought a few extra as I've been on rides with others when a chain breaks and they are stuck - easier to use than pins when out on the road. Works great on my single speed
I recently bought a Giant converted to a single. Installed the chain and a two wheel tensioner. Major improvement in smoothness and noise level. Totally quiet. These are the X series super stretch proof 118 link, silver/black, running it on my 50T QX1 single chainring with a SRAM 1170 12-36 cassette, super quiet and excellent shifting with my SRAM wireless etap medium cage, long lasting chain, I use the same chain for my 39/53 Q rotor 11/28 SRAM etap ... The item was exactly as described. Have used this chain with an Ultegra setup. Simple to install with the missing link, but do compare with the old chain, it may need to be shortened to correctly fit in which case you need a chain tool. Shifts good, if the cassette isn't worn out. Even if it is, this chain will shift better than the Shimano gear on the same setup. KMC for the win
Have been running Sram 8/9/10 speed chains on all my bikes. Usually on the upper end of the Sram lineup. For example the 970 9 spd, 1070 10 spd etc. In my experience they run relatively quiet and shift well. Where they fall short is in durability. Enter the KMC .93 series. They run quieter then the Sram and shift as well. Some say better by I’ll stick with as well. Where they really start to shine is durability. They’re proving to be far longer lasting then their Sram equivalents. I haven’t logged any real-time data so I can’t throw a percentage out but in my opinion it’s significant.
