We wanted this as a plug-in extra hob for use in a summer kitchen or elsewhere. No need to hard-wire and thus easily portable. Lightweight but sturdy. Works very fast in comparison to our ceramic hob and the controls can be programmed to maintain pans at required heat. Luke-warm to touch afterwards, a good safety feature.
