Great detector. Installation nightmare.
Having bought two of these detectors and had a very difficult time installing them, I bought a third because I couldn't find an alternative that does the job of corner-mounted detector as well, for the price. This device offers 240 degrees coverage, not 270, but I found that worked ok for me. The problem comes with installation, which is a complete pig. If you want to locate the detector flat on a wall, but have surface wiring, you will need to create a mounting block to stand the detector off the wall far enough to create some room behind it for the wiring, since there are no surface cutouts and there is no room for wires. On a corner, using the corner mount, you will need to chop some of the wall away to make room for the wires to get behind the mounting bracket for the same reason. Even if you have wiring that comes straight out of the wall or exactly out on the corner, there is absolutely no space for anything but the bare minimum of wire, which you must work out exactly. You cannot leave any slack against future requirements; it's all or nothing. Getting the detector onto its mount once you have finished the wiring is a total pain, too, especially up a ladder. One tiny, easily dropped screw, which should have been made captive, is all that holds the detector in place, but there is a latch that makes it secure if you can get it engaged. It's hard to believe this was designed in Germany, it's that bad. I have given it three stars because the detector is good, deducting two because installation is so awful.
