An old recording unsurpassed in some parts.
This an old recording and the sound though quite decent is showing its age particularly the orchestral sound. Playing speeds are slow compared to modern recordings with ploddy fast movements. The playing style is in the romantic style rather than the more brisk styles favoured by the authentic schools of today. Having said all that you have one of the great violinists of the 20th century and his hugely talented son playing some of Bach's most attractive violin music. And having voiced all my reservations above some of this disk is very beautiful. In particular the slow movement of the D minor Double Concerto stands as one of the most moving I have heard.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
