A bargain and completely compatible with Linux
I needed a replacement for my scanner and it made sense to combine it with reasonably-priced but decent backup printer in a multi-function peripheral, which can work out cheaper than a stand-alone scanner. The catch was that it or they had to work in Ubuntu-based Linux. So long as you go straight to the Epson site and search for software to support it, this device is pretty easy to set up and works well. Install the printer drivers first and then do the usual printer search and set up. It's a standard ESC/P-R printer and shares its drivers with hundreds of others. Scanner drivers last: Epson supply a scanning program with the drivers, but it will work fine with Xsane. It will scan straight to a memory card so you could get by without the drivers, but it would be clumsy if you're using the scanner a lot.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good for basic printing, copying and scanning
Easy to set up and operate, produces good print-outs. The More Functions/Copy/Restore photos function doesn't produce an exact copy in that the copy is slightly larger than the original. This problem can be overcome by using the Scan function - scan photos to jpeg files and then print those - this results in exact copies of the originals.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good quality for the money.
This is a great little printer. Crisp black print and true to colour when colours are printed. The only reservation I have is that we needed to get a winzip programme to compress the archive, or it didn't work. If your PC has a compression programme already, this will work instantly. Well worth the money
At the price this is a great printer. To get the best out of it you need to use Epson ink on Epson paper which is expensive. I now have two printers one to use with Epson ink and paper and the other to use with cheap ink and paper for less important run of the mill work.
