Solid design, easy install
I ordered this as a replacement for my factory bolt due to not getting positive ignition of the primer compound install was super easy without any modifications to get the parts to fit. And quality wise its way above the factory piece and with the extractor. Cycling the bolt my hand its very good a lt pulling the empty case from the barrel. So heres my only gripe its called a "tune up kit" which if it is there are 6 pieces that comprise of the bolt so it has a extractor, extractor spring, extractor detent, firing pin, firing pin return spring, and a roll pin that retains the firing pin whereas the kit comes with only the firing pin, extractor, and extractor spring which is fine for the most part since a detent and a rollpin will very rarely need replacing so you could do without those however springs do get weak over time and a new firing pin spring would round this kit out nicely so my suggestion is if you're planning on purchasing this kit it'd be wise to order a new firing pin spring since the kit doesnt come with one and the spring that comes with the kit is a extractor spring so with that said dont let this discourage you from purchasing this kit but might as well replace the firing pin spring while you are already disassembling the bolt anyways. Of course I got the bad one...
High quality part, but my firing pin was bowed and would not slide all the way forward in the bolt. I had to bend it straight to make it work. My original firing pin looked fine on the beveled end that strikes the bullet casing, but had flattened on the back end from the hammer. This firing pin was slightly longer though and gets a little deeper into the round to surely fix my misfire problems. So I think it's a good part for people who need it, but I was extremely disappointed to have to do anything more than drop it in for a $30 firing pin...

Just what my trusty old plinker needed!
This is a nice improvement on my 20-year-old Ruger 10-22. The firing pin is well made, strong, and slightly longer, to provide a more solid impact on the .22 rimfire cartridges. The extractor was fairly easy to replace with the new one included in the kit. Performance upgrade
Purchased this kit to replace extractor (which had launched into oblivion during a cleaning operation) and to upgrade the firing pin on a fifty-year old 10/22. Just what I Needed
Bought this as an attempt at resolving issues with extraction and misfires. Always heard how Volquartsen was top of the line for all 10/22 things. The kit was easy to install in minutes. Definitely can see a quality difference in the side by side comparison with the original parts. After over 500 rounds & not a single failure to fire or extract spent casings. A great kit for folks who shoot their Ruger 1022 a lot.
This product has a somewhat elevated difficulty level for installation, some folks may want to see a gunsmith with it. I was able to get the tune up kit into my rifle and I am now enjoying much greater reliability than I had. So far I have had no failures to feed, or any failures to fire. The Volquartsen kit corrected all of my problems with my old Ten Twenty Two rifle. I now have great extraction/feeding and much better cartridge ignition.
