Not as Harsh and helps!
I am noticing a difference using Nasalcrom allergy nose spray. I've been having issues this spring with nasal drip & stuffiness due to the allergens in the air. Nasalcrom seems to be helping without the sores I get inside my nose due to some of the other allergy nasal sprays. It was recommended by my Dr. If you have these issues, I'd say give it a try. Effective but not immediately so. Non-steroidal.
Effective at reducing nasal allergy symptoms, but takes about a week of use to kick in. Not a steroid, but quiets down mast-cell, the ones that release histamine when encountering allergens. To avoid the use of Steroids
Steroid nasal sprays while very effective for Allergic Rhinitis have the unfortunate effect on some patients, of advancing the rate of progress of cataracts and raising the (what I think is cause) intra-ocular eye pressure. The pressures are regularly checked by eye speciaiists and opticians and are typically in the mid-teens. By avoiding steroid nasal sprays my pressures came down from a problematic 20+ to a satisfactory of about 12. NasalCrom is termed a Mast Cell Stabiliser and works in a totally different way to steroids. It does however take a few days of use to achieve the desired effect. sinus relief without steroids
I have chronic sinus problems that can be somewhat relieved by using various products. The most highly recommended is a Neti Pot, which is a device that resembles a small "Aladdin's Lamp" and facilitates flushing the sinus with warm saline solution. The other products are "Afrin" type agents (which doctors hate because they have a rebound effect and contribute to high blood pressure), cortisone sprays (which work but have side effects for me) and this product, Nasalcrom. The Nasalcrom is quite effective and has zero side effects. It alone is not enough sometimes, but it can be used without worry of interference with other products. It's especially useful when pollen is high. I do not use it as frequently as they recommend, just as a remedy when I get stuffed up. It might be worth trying that, however. There is not CONS in this product. I have been using NASALCROM for the last 25 years, it keeps my year-around-allergies in absolute control. It does not contain drug of any kind so there are no side effects to worry about. Two puff on each nostril before bed and good for the next 24 hours.
