At 10KW this generator hits the sweet spot

This generator has two 240V plugs. Both 240 plugs are in parallel so you still have a 42AMP limit, but you can connect two dynamic loads to this single generator without having to do a Y-split in your generator cables. This is a big deal for me because I have two panels at my house and I want to run circuits from both. This generator is large enough run your one HVAC/Water Heater/Oven and lights. So turn on the hot water to shower, then turn on the HVAC to cool the house down, then turn on the oven if needed to cook. Simple really, but a lot of medium sized generators don't have the AMPS to run start the HVAC. Overall this is a great medium sized generator that can power your comforts. I did look at HarborFreight but their largest gen was still a tad underpowered for my needs. Duramax, Champion both make comparable gensets in this size and price range. The Generac 15KW, 17.5KW is a step above and would fall in the large category to me. I used to own a 15KW Generac but unfortunately sold it when I moved. The biggest problem with a large generator is fuel consumption. It takes a lot fuel to run a generator for a prolonged time so buy the smallest generator that meets your needs. This G10KBN generator is cheap enough to buy two and you will still come out better than buying one 15KW and will save fuel when you only need to run one. Sidenotes The other Pulsar generators schematics are probably wrong but this is the only one of the "10KW" that shows the 120V plugs are on separate legs. You can also run the generator from an aux gasoline tank or propane tank which is pretty cool.

  • Most critical review

    Propane, not an option.

Machine won't run on propane as stated. They kept sending parts to put to install. Told me to put gasoline in the tank, now they me to send it back but I need to drain the gas, and oil, what a mess. You are better off buying it local, definitely not from Ebay, no wonder it was such a great price!!!! Never a pulsar, never on Ebay, I'll stick with Amazon, but not on power equipment. Oh also, Pulsar won't return my emails now.

  • A beast of a generator at an awesome price.....great quality and performace.

I was a little worried with the low price compared to similar products at the local box stores....however I'm very pleased with the quality of this unit. Very well packaged and arrived in good condition. It took only 15 mins to put the wheel kit on, add oil, connect the battery, connect the propane and it was up and running. It fired right up and ran smooth. Surprisingly quiet for such a large unit. We typically lose power 3-4 times a year where I live and we have cattle which need water from the well. Great piece of mind knowing we can get water to the cattle and power the house as long as we need to. I have no plans on using gas in this generator as long as I have propane available. Highly recommend this generator.

  • Unboxed today, haven't fired it up yet.

This is just an initial review prior to start up. I will write an in depth review after 10 hours of run time or so. First off iitem weighs 197lbs (according to the box) and is delivered via freight carrier (I.e. 53 foot big rig). Since my home has a 1/2 mile driveway and no room to turn around I contacted the carrier and picked it up at their warehouse. Luckily I work in that area once a week so it wasn't out of my way. Side note: R&L Carriers in Temple, Texas was a pleasure to work with, unlike most freight carriers I have dealt with before. I have included some photos of the initial unboxing and setup. Assembly was a breeze; attach handles, wheels, and battery cables. The generator seems sturdy and well built. Tomorrow I will pick up some 10w-30 and ethanol free fuel to run the initial 5 hour break in. After that I will change the oil and it should be good to go. Updates to come.

  • Worked perfect...and just in time.

Worked great. Filled it with oil. Hooked up battery. Hooked up propane. Started right up. I had a 50amp interlock installed - so worth the money. Week and a half after installing the Interlock the power went out for 2 days. It was nice to have electricity and the generator functioned flawlessly. No loss to my full freezer, which would have been at least 2/3 the cost of the generator. Only wish the propane hose was a little longer.

  • Keep It Simple, Clean, and Versatile

The “heart” of all those other $5,000(+) generators is the actual GENERATOR...not the fancy sensors, not the overpriced transfer switch, and certainly not the sleek cover. The goal in a power outage is to quickly and safely supply and sustain enough voltage to power vital systems within your home (Freezer, refrigerator, water heater, lights, well pump, etc.) until normally provided power can be restored......... not try looking good doing it. The Pulsar Dual-Powered (gas/propane) is one of the most important investments I have made for my home (other than my surveillance system) and I didn’t need to donate my left kidney to do it! At $599 (sale price + free shipping) and another $371 (separate Reliance 50 watt transfer switch)...I spent less than a $1k . The intent of ANY backup generator is to provide a power supply “bridge” that can keep food cold/frozen, water flowing/hot, and lights ON/OFF until power is restored to my grid. It is not intended to fully replace city provided power. With its dual fuel source and 10,000 watt (peak gas) capabilities, the Pulsar is UNMATCHED in versatility for the price! It’s portable (no flat, foam-filled tires and convenient fold down handle bars w/ grips) make the Pulsar even more practical! The ELECTRICAL START switch is another built in redundancy to the manual recoil starter ....super convenient and an intelligently engineered feature because you may not be the only person needing to start the unit. The meters and circuit protectors are yet another example of the foresight and “plan ahead” engineering designed into the unit. BRAVO!....well-priced, well designed, brilliantly engineered.

  • Excellent Features Best for $$

Looked long, hit the once a year sale, and got it in 3-4 days, lucky to have a depot nearby here in northern CA. Started right up after teaching our young electrician about manual chokes. LOL A TIP: Consider all costs for ANY generator purchase, e.g. professional modifications to electrical box and transfer switch, generator specific extension chords, cover/storage, and additional access to continuous propane source (optional). This unit is a steal - who could need anything more?

  • First Impressions Are Favorable

Assembly was very easy and the unit looks robust. Fired right up on propane. A little noisy at first but smoothed out as it ran. Tested a half inch drill on a 120 volt outlet and all was well. The manual is adequate. It took me a bit to find out how much oil is required but I did locate it. Haven't had an outage so don't know how much fuel it will use or how it will handle various loads. The shipper took a very long time to get the generator to me and so the 4 star rating. It looks well constructed so I am hoping that it will be durable.

  • Great generator for the money.

Bought it for our food truck. Worked well. Does pretty good on fuel. It's a little noisy but not as bad as my smaller generator. I haven't tried it with the propane fuel source. All in all I'm really pleased for the price.

  • Awesome power small price

Awesome power, small price. it powers my whole house, with water well. My wife is on home Dialysis and it runs her cycler and dialysate pump. with no surges. Great Product at a price of a generator half its size.
