Even works on a cloudy day
This does exactly as described. We have a small pond about 2 x 1 metres. I have put it down in the central, deeper part of the pond. I have protected the pump on the edge of the pond with a "bonnet" tile so that the birds ( wood pigeons) can't knock it into the water. It will still bubble gently even when it is cloudy. No doubt this will not be so during the Winter but do I need it then? It was very easy to assemble. A little of the plastic pipe is exposed to sunshine so maybe over time this will perish but there is plenty for the size of the pond so it could easily be shortened.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

poor quality ineffectiual, requires bright sunlight to work
does not work unless the sun is shining direct onto the solar pannel, despite the enthusiastic revues of others! it doesnt run if even slightly cloudy. weather proofing/sealing and build quality is poor, i doubt it'll last a full year but we'll see?. the only way to get this to run better and hopefully last a year is to pair it up with another solar pannel and re seal the one that comes with it a disappointmentVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great little pump
Having had solar pumps before that need full sun to work wasn't expecting anything better. However this great little pump works well even on duller days (with slightly less power). It comes with plenty of cable and air line so positioning isn't an issue. I have used it on a small pond with a few fish to keep oxygen levels good on hot days. Probably the best on the market (and I have tried a few)
Prior to purchasing one of these I tried a few others and they all lacked the ability to operate in low sunlight. These ones however are much different. In strong direct sunlight they generate enough amount of air that would rival some of the most powerful electric pumps on the market. In low light they still generate a good amount of air and even on rainy dull cloudy days they are still generating air (not a lot but still some that you can see bubbles rising to the top of the pond) In summary: * Very powerful in direct sunlight * Still generates air in low light or on rainy dull days * Very easy to set up * Very quiet operation * Excellent value for money * Probably the best of its kind on the market (after trying many others) * Sufficient for large Koi ponds (buy more than one as I have if your pond is large)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great little oxygenator
What a wonderful little oxygenator. I'd read the reviews and am so glad I picked this. It runs even when there is no sunshine, it is just not quite as fast as when the sun is shining. Does the job at a very affordable price.
I needed an aerator that would give some water circulation to a fish-tank and frogspawn for a school project. The tank is outside so mains power was not an option (also H&S). I rigged the solar panel on a canopy above the school patio area (rather than using the spike in the ground). It works fine when there is direct sunlight on the panel but not when it is cloudy/weak sunlight - but for the price I think is excellent - though need time to see if it continues to run effectively.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Solar powered oxygenator
This is a fantastic little item. It worked as soon as it was plugged in to the solar cell and has continued working ever since. Great value for money areator/ pump.
Great little solar aerator/ pump - works well in my medium sized pond and even operates (although less powerful) in cloudy weather. Within a few days of using this oxygen pump my pond looks a lot healthier and the water is in much better condition. Before installation of this pump (which is very easy) my pond was beginning to stagnate and the water was very murky. Now new life is being pumped into the pond. Cloudy pond? This could well solve the problem.
I have tried several products to make my pond a healthier environment for the wildlife in it. This product has solved the problem. It works efficiently by pumping air into the water. Amazing
Works so well even in low light. More than pleased. Only concern was if the pump was okay in the rain. I have been putting a plastic box on top. Paperwork says the pump must not be submerged (get that) but then says nothing about it being out in the rain. I did get in touch with seller and he said it would be fine.
