Light in weight, easy to charge (14 amp fuse a bit loose but easily corrected). Main use is the 2 12v outlets to power 230 v mains inverter to power a 9 watt high efficiently standard lamp during power cuts & a 12v heated car blanket! Orange & red turned out to be orange & black so what!

I I bought this jump starter as a back up for the coming winter as we sometimes don't use our cars for days, so I haven't used it in anger as yet. It seems sturdily built with good strong crocodile clip connectors but I am a little concerned that I charged it overnight to full capacity but to my surprise it had dropped to half charge when I checked it approximately ten days later. So I am now checking it every couple of days to see how long it remains at full charge. Also the charging plug got quite hot when left on overnight.

Before writing this review I've checked twice on the original description. When it arrive the first obvious thing that stood out was for engines up to 1500cc. As it was sold as suitable for cars and vans it's reasonable to assume it would cope with larger engines. Giving it the benefit of the doubt I tried it on my 2000cc three year old Ford it wouldn't even turn it over. I would have returned it but too expensive!!

A little worried after it arrived. It was described as HEAVY DUTY in the advert (400amp/h) but on arrival it declared on the box "....for up to 1500cc engines..." It is lighter than my previous 400amp hour charger so I assume the battery is smaller inside. Time will tell if it can jump my 2 litre diesel Nissan Qashqai. I won't know until the next flat battery occurs. I always depress the clutch on starting to remove the weight of the clutch on the flywheel. This has always helped my previous Battery Jumper so I hope it will help this lighter model. One other thought....it says to store the charger upright at all times. I kept my other charger stored on it's side for many years in the boot. I would have thought because the unit had a sealed battery internally that it would have been OK to store on it's side. However, as it states...Keep Upright...I shall store upright in the boot from now on. Charge 18 - 20 hours on receipt, then 10 hours every 2 months or immediately after use to jump start a vehicle. I've book marked it in my Smartphone every 2 months to help my poor memory!Read full review
