A Powerful 1000watt 'Active' Subwoofer Unit
For the size of the unit, it is not too heavy. I used it in conjunction with an 800 watt Carlsbro passive system with 2 x 15" speaker units. This one unit along with my system put out a really good balanced sound. The output filled a large hall with a good crowd in. From the disco deck I used a phono plug 'piggyback' splitter, two wires went to the Carlsbro mixing desk. The other two went straight into the rear of the Vonyx 18" Subwoofer. The 1000watts amp built into the 'Active' unit coped adequately. I was running it on half power for the first half of the night. Then as the crowds came in, I gave it full bore. I was expecting some low end distortion, but it coped nicely, some punch where it needed it! There was a slight buzzing, but it was on a hard floor of a raised stage. I reckon piece of carpet would have stopped that. I liked the controls on the rear of the unit, so it could be fine tuned independent to the mixing desk. The two knobs, one for volume output and the other for the bass range. Turned the one way it picks up all the bass & middle end, move it the other way and it 'accents' just the real low end of the spectrum. By the end of the night, both of the adjustments were on maximum volume and full bass/middle range. For the money you would not disappointed, a good piece of kit to add to your rig. For my system, one was all I needed.
