small and easy to use
Covers the basics for gmrs operation, it is nice to have a small footprint for concealment or a vehicle with limited cabin space. Regrettably it has no extras beyond that. If a user wants a few extra channels for presets like multiple repeaters on the same frequency with different pl codes, this will not do it. Consequently traveling thru several geographic areas the user is not able to preset the repeaters beforehand. The pl code setup is a little unusual as Midland numbers each pl code differently than the industry standard, but once the operator understands how it works it is relatively east to change. My recommendation is for those buying this radio and traveling with it is to keep a copy of the pl code and translation into Midland pl codes for ease of changing codes without searching for the right code. One additional thought, I have not researched if this is available but it would be nice to have an extension for the mic cord to remote mount the radio pack in a trunk or the rear cab of an extended cab pickup truck and have the mic still on the dash. This last recommendation would also be useful for the 50w version of this radio.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Midland MXT275
This is a very adaptable radio. Great for a smaller vehicle. Mine is used with the Midland " Ghost" antenna, and I have no problem with 20 and 30 miles to a repeater. The only drawback I've found on all the MXT line is they do not have the ability to program separate receive tones for repeaters.
