After introducing 12-speed cassettes in its high-end XTR group, Shimano is extending this to the very popular Deore XT and SLX groups. However, this is not the only change, as the Japanese brand has just presented two completely new groups. The cassettes will be available in 10-45 or 10-51 teeth. They feature the new Hyperglide + design from the XTR, which promises even more efficient shifting under full load. It uses the Microspline standard for hub attachment (for more explanation, see our news on the XTR), and Shimano has confirmed that many manufacturers will be releasing compatible freehub bodies in the coming months.
