Honeywell T9 Sensor System - Worth It!
Prior to the T9 System, I purchased the Honeywell Lyric T5. This system had several attractive features - automatic thermostat controlled by an app which would allow ‘geofencing’ which is turning on the thermostat when I came into a customizable proximity to my home. This worked well. I was able to figure out the thermostat C-wiring from YouTube videos. The problem with this configuration was that room temperatures were based upon where the fixed thermostat which was located in the hallway where no one stays for a prolonged time. I needed a room sensor and at the time the Ecobee 3 was a good option & had high satisfaction ratings so I purchased it... but never installed it. Why? The wiring videos & diagrams were much more complicated than the Honeywell System - in my opinion, regular guy with no electrical wiring skills to speak of. Fast forward a few months later and I learned that Honeywell came out with a T9 with remote room sensors. Advertising says you can link or hook up to 20 remote sensors... I really only needed two - master bedroom & family room. Set up was easy, simply replace the T5 with the T9 - no rewiring needed. Sync the thermostat to my home WiFi & upload the App to my smartphone. Programming the T9 was very easy & intuitive! Placing sensors about 5’ from the top of a vaulted ceiling also easy. The T9 system sensors detect motion in the room and can activate the thermostat based on room activity/occupancy. You can also prioritize which rooms to heat via the thermostat or App based on activity as well. Overall, the T9 Thermostat & 2 Sensors were similar to what I paid for the Ecobee 3. You can find great deals on eBay for the T9 or additional sensors well below typical in store retail costs. The Honeywell T9 & Sensors are well worth it! My heating/cooling bill is much more controlled and in-line with my needs! If you’re thinking about this system, my recommendation is to buy it! Best of luck! Honeywell Smart Room Sensor
I was already impressed by the features of my Honeywell Home T9 Smart Thermostat and the addition of the Smart Room Sensor allows the temperature in my den to be easily balanced with the rest of the house. It was easy to sync with my system's main thermostat, easy to install, and the price was very reasonable. The sensors make the T9 thermostat more functional
Sensor makes the T9 thermostat. Being able to control heating over a range of rooms is helpful in reducing costs. Having multiple sensors gives a better picture of home heating.
