Good bookcase with a nice look and feel
This is a solid Mexican Pine flatpack. The Pine's been wax treated for colour and preservation. Each main board is been made of various cuts of solid Pine that's splined together, so there's no single solid Pine bit of timber for the longer bits. However, the smaller bits are solid, single piece Pine. The back is (standard) particle board with a veneer that's common on these types of units. This is better than the common MDF or chipboard units covered with a hard plastic that's painted to look like wood. It's worth the extra expense to get an actual wooden unit. The black "button" accents in this range aren't compulsory. We left them off and think it looks much nicer. We're happy with this, and the small version, as we bought two as a matching set. There was a broken board in one of the sets, but they promptly replaced it with a new one.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good quality wood
The quality of the wood is good and the instructions reasonably clear. My experience is that the joins at the base of the unit are badly aligned so that even after 3 attempts I have not managed to get it completely square. it is functional but rather disappointing.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

DIY bookcase
Bought two and put them together to gain the style and depth we required, fairly simple to do. Alternative bookcases of this size over 3 times the price! Very good item, looks lovely.

Really nice wooden bookcase, great price
Looks more expensive than it cost, a nice natural looking real wood bookcase. There are lots of more expensive bookcases that look cheaper than this. My son put it together, without any difficulties. A bit at the back was cracked, but that's fine as it can't be seen. We didn't bother with the black "buttons" trim, I think it looks better without. The shelf size is good and deep, great for storing jigsaws and board games. I would definitely recommend this bookcase.

Relatively easy to assemble instructions easy to understand only let down by some black marks presumable wax and dust stuck together and a few partially lighter patches on areas not easy to see. Good value for discounted rate but would expect a little better finish for full price. Good solid bookcase with adequate room for A4 pamphlets on each shelf. Assembly straightforward, takes about two hours with care. Criticisms - some of the screw-holes/dowels weren't drilled through to correct depth.
