Reviews"It's a psychological thriller, each page percolating with the triumphant darkness that is Marc David Rich." -- Bloomberg News "An empathetic look at the notorious Marc Rich, one of the most successful and controversial commodities traders in recent history and a key figure in the invention of the spot market. With unparalleled access to Rich, his family and associates, business journalist Ammann paints a nuanced portrait of the man vilified for trading with Iran and apartheid-era South Africa, accused of being the biggest tax fraudster in U.S. history and recipient of an infamous presidential pardon. This meticulous account sets the record straight on a reluctant public figure who lost in the court of public opinion, but escaped being tried in a court of law." -- Publishers Weekly "Is Rich a rogue or a philanthropic businessman? Ammann lets readers draw their own conclusion. This book reads like a cross between a rags-to-riches saga and a cloak-and-dagger thriller, but it's also an excellent and timely primer on the world of commodities trading within a global economy and will greatly appeal to readers interested in current events." -- Library Journal, "This is an excellent reference work that will be of great interest to all who specialize in abused substances, whether they be analytical chemists, poison information specialists or treatment providers.  It deserves to be one of the very first sources consulted when assessing a human exposure to a recreational drug or chemical."  ( International Association of Forensic Toxicologists , 1 February 2013) "Medical Toxicology of Drug Abuseis a comprehensive, well researched, solidly founded treatise on all aspects of synthesized drugs of abuse and psychoactive plants."  ( Annals of Emergency Medicine , 1 March 2013) "It is the nature of text-books that they cannot catch all of the last-minute findings. Medical Toxicology of Drug Abuse includes so much that one must congratulate the accomplishment."  ( Journal of Analytical Toxicology , 4 December  2012) "Aa a member of ACMT, I am constantly amazed at the talent in our organisation.  Dr. Barceloux demonstrates his depth of knowledge and excellent writing skills in these recently published textbooks.  Both books are an excellent resources for medical toxicologists."  ( American College of Medical Toxicology , 1 December  2012) "Despite this potential omission, Dr. Barceloux must be commended for this tremendous effort. It is rare to have an authoritative encyclopedia of information be predominately written by one person, clearly a labor of love. Without question, this book is a "must have" reference for anyone involved with drugs of abuse."  ( Journal of Forensic Sciences , 1 November 2012), It's a psychological thriller, each page percolating with the triumphant darkness that is Marc David Rich.

The book, only the 2nd biography of Marc Rich, tells the true history of oil in the world from the turbulent times of the 70's through the 90's. Marc Rich was a key player in making the oil market what it is today. Historian will love this book, oil and gas folks will find it fascinating.
