On The Fence
Five things to dislike:
1 - CTRL+Q does no close apps
2 - No ESC key
3 - Heavy, really heavy
4 - The damn cursor is always present on screen, even in tablet mode (keyboard folded back)
5 - No settings in required app - Guess it acts as a driver. Haven’t found any settings either but also haven’t looked.
Things to like:
1 - Protects entire iPad EXCEPT where the pencil attaches.
2 - Keys have good depth
3 - Backlit
4 - Overall, great functionality
5 - Materials look/feel nice (cheap though)
If you’re just looking for a keyboard to type with on the iPad get a Bluetooth keyboard (someone has to make them).
If you’re looking for a full-time keyboard then buy a used MacBook (12-inches).
If you need a permanent keyboard, sketching/drawing capabilities, then buy a Surface and save some weight. If it’s gotta be Apple then this it; price-wise and attachment.
If all you can put money on is the iPad Air/Pro and a keyboard: THIS IS the way. Make sure you get the Apple Pencil too (secondhand works, save a few bucks).
For me, I’d rather type on a Mac, scribble notes on my iPad (classes, research) and listen to podcasts on the iPhone.
