Authentic , bloody and true to life story of men who risk their lives.

Film is great from an account of a true story of a medic who saved 75 soldiers in combat.Good action and actors who portrayed the characters. Film has a lot of bloody scenes and killings as the director Mel Gibson portrayed the film during that time.

  • Absolutely Amazing

A Godly man who served God first. Staying true to and loyal to his Faith, his beloved country, and his fellow man. Proving true his merit, honor ,service, duty, and patriotism in the face of many challenges, insurmountable odds and under extreme persecution from his comrades in arms, superiors and subordinates alike. Yet with such nobility honor and integrity a hero not only to his beloved Country but a Hero of the faith. God made a way for just one more, so many times over. God is good. I personally pray for all of the Service Member families who did not bring there loved ones home MIA/KIA also including the survivors and trauma suffered for my freedom & the freedom & Independence of these United States of America !!! Thank you to all who serve or served Past, Present and Future In Christ name I pray W. W.

  • War is Hell and this is a great portayal of it.

I am ex-Vietnam, so I can attest to the close accuracy of what was shown. Yes, if for some reason you are not liked, they will beat the hell out of you and you really don't know who did it because there were too many and you are trying to hide all your vital parts. The story is about a person, not about basic training in the military, so lots more could have been shown, but why. The military operates under a set of codes and they are numerous and complex, but to disobey the base commander's orders is to invoke all manner of wrath. Logic and common sense do not enter into the game. But having a very high ranking officer say let it go will cause it to be let go. The battle scenes ended up exaggerated, but that comes from blowing up light-weight dummies not real people. Live with it. Okinawa is a volcanic island and it is riddled with caves and tunnels naturally. But the Japanese used them and expanded upon them. Some of my WWII friends say they really did stream out of the underground caves in that manner and it was hoard trying to overrun them. Thanks to Mel for doing an admirable job and attempting to remain as close as possible to the true story.

  • Great War Movie

Hacksaw Ridge is a 2016 biographical war drama film directed by Mel Gibson based on the 2004 documentary the Conscientious Objector. The film focuses on the World War II experiences of Desmond Doss , an American pacificist combat medic who, as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian , refused to carry or use a weapon or firearm of any kind. Doss became the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor, for service above and beyond the call of duty during the Battle of Okinawa. I found it very interesting and great acting. I enjoyed the film a lot and highly recommend.

  • One of the Best Movies I have EVER Seen!

When I went into the Army in 1971, sometime around then someone gave me a Gospel Tract titled the Story of "Holy Joe". When I heard about Hacksaw Ridge and what it was about, I automatically realized that that same man's story was being made into a Movie. I had no idea all of the Facts and Details of the story. As a Veteran of the Vietnam Era War, I couldn't be any Prouder of what he did without a single weapon to protect himself., and only his Gift and Hands to save the Lives of more of his fellow soldiers than most did in that type of setting in the course of a 3, 4 year time in service, or many tours of duty. I was so Shocked that it didn't sweep the Oscars. But then I may be a little biased being a Veteran & a Christian. I simply Had to have my very own copy of this Awesome Movie!!!

  • Fantastic

I love this movie and its characters most especially Desmond Doss and his young fiancé. It is a magnificent story of courage I would never be able to muster. He was a 7th day Adventist and opposed both to killing and to carrying a gun, yet he saved countless men one by one without using a weapon, just using his own strength, will, determination and the strength and comfort he found in his relationship to his religion and his God. Inspiring to the very last moment. A++++++++++

  • Hacksaw Ridge

This DVD should be sent to every member of Congress. It depicts the true horror of war. Before they spend money on armaments they should realize the consequences. Before the they send our troops into battle they should realize that our budget is already spending far too much on the Pentagon and their love of guns and fireworks. Go to the military hospital and see the youth of our nation suffering from actions they voted to achieve. Few served in the services but they are denying our citizenry full use of our Constitution and put our nation in harm's way. We have thousands of atomic weapons! Why? We have lost for the general population the need of proper education, medical care and tolerance.

  • WAR - Like it Really is.

The movie gives one (those who have never been) an understanding of "war"...the many lives it takes, the crippling injuries then and now, the courage it took/takes to go into battle. The awful things that happen to people, and that stays with after. Also one man's courage to stick to his convictions, under duress from fellow soldiers. We hope war does not happen to our soldiers again, but if so, that our nation gives them the support they deserve, medically, economically & patriotically.!

  • The Most Inhuman Battle of WWII's Pacific War, " The Last Battle, in OKINAWA !! "

This is a movie that starts out to be, frankly, a standard, "gag me", "lovey dovey story" we have all seen "way too many times". But the combat scenes are a brutally honest recreation of the savage combat in the WWII Pacific War against Japan, and very well done, but the acts of the "HERO" are totally unbelievable, "give me a freaking break man ! NO WAY !!", except for one thing, "WAY !!". As I already knew from hearing about it earlier, when it came out, when I saw CNN telling about the film, this guy's story is so remarkable, you have to wonder how the whole world didn't know about this truly heroic human being. "The 1st U.S. soldier to get "The Medal" without "His Weapon" . How ?? You should find out for yourself ! You will not be disappointed.
