Taylor, Fisher, Harvey. A Tense Love Story, and a small moral.
I want to tell you about an EPIC, Vintage, Motion Picture, which Premiered in
1960, which starred THREE Major Motion Picture Stars, of that Era, Mr.
Laurence Harvey, Mr. Eddie Fisher, and Miss Elizabeth Taylor. Laurence
Harvey was a huge, huge "A" actor, who was cast in many major pictures,
and, some television. Mr. Harvey was cast in a major picture, most folk have
seen, at one time or another, the 1962 International hit, " The Manchurian Can-
didate ", about some soldiers who were captured in the Korean War, and
brain-washed, and sent back to America, to do some unwholesome tasks.
BUTTERFIELD 8, is a rather complex picture, about a woman who has come
face to face with her LIFE, and, the married gentleman, who is in love with her.
This picture is a picture with Post-War values, and is loaded with sexual
tension, and hypocrisy, and longing for a better life, in many directions.
Mr. Eddie Fisher, a singer, was cast in this piece, as Taylor's Brother, who
loves and adores his Sister, but, sees her problem life as a pathetic, and
fragile thing.
Harvey's casting, is a Monument to casting excellence. His character is a
proper Englishman, doing very improper things. I won't go into detail, but to
tell you, that you'll relate to these splendid characters, and you will be
moved by this screenplay. If you love a love-story with problems, and
a genuine anti-hero falling for Miss Wrong, you'll love.....
BUTTERFIELD 8

holds up, very well.
