This is a wonderful cd. Some of the best Mardi Gras music. My father had the vinyl to this and I grew up hearing it. The vocals and beats are just amazing. To me it has definitely stood the test of time. Some amazing singers, song writers, and producers. I love every single song on the album. If you're into Mardi Gras music this is definitely a must have. The Neville Brothers were a part of this group with the Meters.
A Great Album That Could Only Come From New Orleans!
The Wild Tchoupitoulas are Mardi Gras Indians. As I understand it, Mardi Gras Indians are sort of like street gangs, except the Indians wear elaborate costumes and parade through the streets of New Orleans on Mardi Gras. If one tribe meets another, traditionally they would fight. So the songs on this album are about indian pride, parading on Mardi Gras, drinking fire water, and fighting. It's a fun and unique album with terrific musical support.
